Arya, a sweet seven-year-old in Ukraine, needs your support to ensure she remains and thrives in her mom’s loving care!

Following the tragic passing of Arya’s father, her mother, Katia, struggled to cope. She turned to alcohol to numb her pain, struggled to find a job, maintain her home, and meet Arya’s needs, which led to Arya being removed from her care.

However, through many long months of diligent dedication, Katia successfully completed a rehabilitation program. With the support of an AFFEO partner, she found a job and was able to repair her home. Katia successfully overcame her struggles! As a result, our partner worked tirelessly alongside government social workers to reunite Arya and Katia. Their reunion is a beautiful story of resilience and love, but the ongoing war has brought new challenges. This mother and daughter now need your help to ensure they can thrive together as a family.

Recently, Katia and Arya had to evacuate to a safer area, leaving behind much of what they rebuilt. Our partner is working to help them adjust to their new community, but they urgently need basic necessities as well as ongoing psychological support.

Arya excels in school and loves exploring her passions, particularly drawing and cooking with her mom. After the trauma of living in an orphanage and enduring the effects of war, being with her mother again has given Arya her first sense of safety and normalcy in years.
